House Vinyl Siding

Vinyl siding is the most common kind of siding on any house now. The advantages of having vinyl siding are tremendous. Vinyl is the easiest to clean and it is a thicker material so that it will stand up against most all weather conditions. With a nice vinyl siding, you will never have to worry about bugs trying to eat your siding, or your siding rotting because it is not made of wood, which is a huge problem with people that have log homes.

Vinyl is a great material because you can use it in any kind of weather. Whether you have coastal property, you live in the woods or you have a home in a nice residential neighborhood, there is not any place that vinyl siding is not appropriate. The best thing as well is that you can make it look like almost anything that you want. If you are wanting a nice cedar or brick look to your house, no problem! With a vinyl siding, you can have almost anything that you want. vinyl siding costs are so inexpensive compared to other materials that it is senseless to use anything else.

Both cedar vinyl siding and vinyl shake siding are an awesome way to make give your house a nice vintage look or just a nice trim if you don't want your entire house covered. using a vinyl shake siding is more expensive that a regular siding which makes it a little more difficult to work with. Their largest benefit, however, is that they are seamless and look just like wood. You never have to paint them because they already have a natural wood look and feel. Both Certainteed and Alcoa make a beautiful vinyl shake siding that is gorgeous on any house.

The average cost to reside your house in vinyl is averaged between eight thousand and ten thousand dollars. This is a huge upfront cost for most people but when you consider it's long lasting life and that you won't be replacing your siding for years to come, it's worth the money. Keep in mind, this is only a ballpakr figure for an average three bedroom house. If your house is bigger or smaller than that then your average vinyl siding costs will fluctuate. This is definitely one of those household expenses where your money will be working for you.

Is vinyl the kind of siding you have to power wash? I never really knew what that was, but a lot of people in our area offer it. I guess I'd want to figure out if I should buy a power washer or just hire someone a couple times a year.

There are a lot of different kinds of siding. Siding only means whatever covers the “sides” of your house. You can get brick, wood, aluminum, stucco, rock, steel, asbestos, bevel, concrete, clapboard, or panel, and I don't know, there might be more. Vinyl's the most common and most economical.

You say that vinyl siding is the most common kind of siding, but I guess I thought it was the only kind of siding. Isn't that what makes siding “siding?” What other kinds are there? How does vinyl compare to other kinds of siding?

This doesn't even include the cost of removing old siding or decayed wood before you put on new siding. That can really add to the cost. A lot of people forget that step, or mess it up, then they're sorry for it later.

I've heard a lot wider range of cost estimates than 8-10 thousand. One place I looked said 3 to 12 thousand, a much wider range. I'm sure you're really shooting yourself in the foot if you go with that low, 3K price range, though.

What is cedar vinyl siding? Is it regular vinyl siding that's painted to look like cedar? That could be nice, if it looks realistic, but I can also see how it could be tacky, too. Has anyone seen it actually used?

That's really true; it's not going to weather or decay, and it doesn't attract termites like a wood house does. Water runs right off it. We did have to repair some damage our dog did to ours, but compared to what he could have done to wood, it wasn't a big deal.
